City Of Manchester 2s vs Keswick 1s

Keswick Flying High!
Last Saturday Keswick travelled to Manchester hoping to extend their lead at the top of the table.
Keswick were in control of the game straight from the start and soon found themselves 1-0 up after Luke Heap received the ball just inside the opposition’s area and flicked the ball into the top left corner of the net.
Keswick then conceded a penalty flick, which the home side missed after a save from goalkeeper Garry Tupper.
Keswick’s second goal then came minutes later, after some patient build up play from the defence, Mark Bowen received the ball in the oppositions half and found Clive Swanston who finished passed the helpless City of Manchester keeper.
A ball through the middle of midfield was collected by Jack Chippendale who assisted Mark Proctor, once again getting himself on the scoresheet to give Keswick their third goal of the game.
At 3-0 up City of Manchester eased off the pressure and strangely let Keswick keep the possession of the ball in their own half. Keswick were looking very comfortable, and the defence of Paul Randell, Jamie O’Shea, Chris Mattear and Robert Owen were happy to keep the ball with no pressure being put on them by the opposition.
Going into the second half Keswick were keen to increase their lead, and did so when Paul Sloan found Proctor who squared the ball for Robert Owen to give Keswick a 4-0 lead.
Being 4 goals down, the City of Manchester changed their tactics and pushed Keswick a lot higher up the pitch causing a few problems, managing to grab 2 goals and giving Keswick a few things to think about going into the final 15 minutes of the game.
Owen then got his second goal of the game after some brilliant play down the right wing when Luke Heap dribbled the ball into the D and slipped it for the left back Owen to finish.
Undoubtedly the goal of the game came when Keswick scored their sixth through a signature Mark Bowen thunderbolt. Heap found Bowen running in at the top off the opposition’s area, who struck the ball with a first time shot from 16 yards out, and the shot which went flying into the back of the oppositions net, giving the City of Manchester goalkeeper no chance.
With this 6-2 win Keswick still see themselves sitting at the top of North West Hockey League Division 2 on goal difference.
On Saturday Keswick will play host to Manchester Men’s 1s at Cockermouth School, with a 12pm start time.
